National Road No. 133A (Phsar Chhouk-Angkor Chey) Set to Boost Local Living Standards

Kampot, June 11, 2024: Residents along National Road 133A, connecting Chhouk Market in Chhouk District to Angkor Chey District, are celebrating the completion of roadworks that have significantly improved accessibility and business opportunities, contributing to enhanced daily life. Locals extended their gratitude to the Royal Government, particularly the Ministry of Rural Development and provincial authorities, for prioritizing the welfare of rural communities.

Inhabitants and business owners in Sat Pong Village, Sat Pong Commune, Chhouk District, Kampot Province, are reveling in the transformation of National Road 133A. Previously a challenging cobblestone road affected by seasonal mud and dust, it has been upgraded to a smoothly paved road that facilitates easier travel and commerce, thereby improving their quality of life.

Hor Sorin, the Director of the Kampot Provincial Department of Rural Development, noted that National Road No. 133A stretches over 20,382 meters and links two districts—from National Road No. 3 at Phsar Chhouk to National Road No. 31 at the Siam checkpoint in Angkor Chey District. The route crosses four communes and was constructed by the Korean firm IL SUNG, which has completed 80% of the project to date.

The development of this infrastructure is seen as a crucial step towards enhancing connectivity and economic activities in the region, promising a brighter future for the local communities.
